Allett 2019 Review

We've had a great year at Allett Mowers with the launch of our two battery powered professional products aswell as the increased sales of our battery powered homeowner range. By 2025 we predict we will no longer be manufacturing petrol products. As a company we have our own sustainability policy and we want to reduce emissions, noise pollution and hand arm vibration levels to the operator- this reflects in our move towards battery power. Here are a few highlights from the year......

ALLETT LAUNCH BATTERY POWERED CYLINDER CARTRIDGE MACHINE

In May 2019 after two years of development we officially launched our C34E battery powered cartridge machine on the hallowed turf of Twickenham . We invited industry leaders to the stadium and held informal talks on the brand machine and sustainability. Attendees at the Twickenham Rugby Stadium consisted of football, cricket, rugby, royal households, Oxford & Cambridge University colleges and a variety of current and potential Allett dealers. Keith Kent, Twickenham Stadium’s former Head Groundsman, spoke about his time and experience maintaining a world-class pitch and how he provided the same standard pitch whether it was a school boys rugby game or a world cup match. The second speaker of the event, sustainability expert Professor David Stubbs, discussed the challenges in the industry of maintaining sustainable products. Using a case study of the London 2012 Olympic Games, David’s talk embraced climate change and how sport can aid in addressing major global ecological difficulties. Austin Jarrett (Allett MD) also presented on what Allett are doing to make both homeowner and sports range machines more environmentally and user friendly. All attendees were given the opportunity to demonstrate the C34E out on the pitch which we were very privileged to do. Allett Mowers Battery C34E LAUNCH DAY Since the launch day our first twenty C34E machines have left the factory and been installed into football grounds around the world aswell as universities and colleges. These venues are looking for machines that are much more environmentally and user friendly. The Allett C34E has low noise levels, low hand arm vibration levels and produces NO emissions. The first twenty users have become Allett Pioneers; giving us valuable feedback over the last year on any changes to be made ahead of the main production that started this month. ALLETT CREATIVE STRIPES WINNER 2019- CZAKO ERIK (HUNGARY)

Our 2019 champion Czako Erik was crowned this year's champions for his eye catching symmetric design. Lawn fanatics from all over the world (10 countries infact) entered this year’s competition and if you think that striped lawns are limited to the homes of the British, you need to look at the submissions. Striped lawns used to be the preserve of the British garden, but now keen gardeners from around the globe compete each year for this coveted green award. The 2019 competition was won by Czakó Erik of Hungary with a stunning and technically difficult pattern on grass of a quality normally seen in a national football stadium. “The rise in international competitors in this competition to win the award is in line with the rise in demand our company has seen for our mowers from overseas lawn-fanatics” says Austin Jarrett, Managing Director of Allett. This year’s prize was a Liberty 43 with ALL of its cartridges and 2 cartridge stands. Read more about this year's competition here Creative Stripes Winner - Erik Czakó | Blog | Allett Mowers

EDGBASTON GROUNDSMAN'S DAY 2019

We hosted another great groundsman's day at Edgbaston where guests learnt how Head Groundsman Gary Barwell prepared pitches for the World Cup and Ashes Series. Over 50 cricket groundsmen and dealers from across the United Kingdom were invited to join us for the exciting, educational day at Edgbaston. Guests included high-profile groundsmen from the National Performance Centre at Loughborough as well as private schools, colleges and cricket clubs. The attendees were joined by Gary Barwell, Head Groundsman at Edgbaston and, former England Assistant Coach and T20 World Cup Winning Coach, Paul Farbrace. Paul is now Sporting Director at Warwickshire. One of the many highlights of the day was a presentation held by Gary to the attendees that offered a wonderful glimpse into how he prepared the World Cup and Ashes pitches. His presentation covered any problems he encountered along the way including dealing with the media, players and fans views on social media on the way the wickets were playing- a truly captivating presentation delivered with such humility by Gary! Guests were invited into Gary’s shed to take a look at the equipment he uses to keep the Edgbaston wickets, square and outfield in tip-top shape including his range of Allett Mowers. They were then led out to the middle to examine the wickets used for the World Cup and Ashes matches, and Gary explained to the guests the technical aspects involved including the amount of rolling, watering and cutting required before a matchday. Guests were encouraged to ask questions throughout the day on subjects such as dealing with low budgets etc - read more here Find a video of Gary's presentation here Allett Mowers Host Cricket Groundsman's Day
